Kathak is a dance form known world wide but when this dance form is mixed with Yoga, it gives tremendous health benefits. And this new form of exercise is termed as “Kathak Yoga” by the director of creative dance academy. Kathak Yoga has been known since vedic period but Shaleena as an artist thinks that if this is practised in present era, it will be more beneficial than aerobic.
Kathak Yoga is performed in “Teen Taal Kehrwa” which starts from “था” and carried till “चौगुन”. In this Shaleena has fused Kathak with 15 Yoga asanas which are गरुड़ासन, वृक्षासन, धनुरासन, चक्रासन, ध्यान and exercise involving lower body parts. Kathak yoga differs from aerobics as in this eyes, fingers, wrists, neck, legs and waist are exercised and also meditation is done which helps in people recovering from depression. “तत्कार” of Kathak helps in proper blood circulation. It also helps in reducing weight, arthritis, thyroid, migraine, depression and spondelitis.
